Hello everyone! My name's Lyndsey, and today I’m thrilled to share my spring sewing plans with you all! Sewing can sometimes feel overwhelming because there are so many amazing patterns and fabrics out there, but having a plan helps me stay focused. Even if I don't end up sewing everything, creating these plans lets me explore my creativity by imagining what I’d make if I had more time.
This season, the new spring patterns are really shaping my sewing goals. Liesl's post about designing this collection as a cohesive wardrobe of coordinating separates really resonated with me. There’s something incredibly satisfying about building a capsule wardrobe where pieces effortlessly match. A few years ago, I realized I had a lot of beautiful garments that didn’t go with anything else in my closet. Since then, I’ve made it a point to ensure every new project has at least one complementary piece before I dive in. Do you like to plan your sewing projects, or do you prefer working on one piece at a time?
Here’s a peek at my 5-piece spring capsule using Liesl + Co patterns: the Classic Shirt, Cannes Trousers, Santa Rosa Dress, Sintra Top, and Peckham Trousers.

I’ve got a bit of a preppy vibe going on this spring. I don’t typically wear much pink, but I’ve fallen hard for the Barbie-core trend—it’s so fun! While it’s definitely outside my usual neutral palette, pink pairs beautifully with green, which is a color I already own quite a bit of. As I planned, I made a list of existing items in my wardrobe that would work well with these new makes. How do you choose fabrics for your projects? Do you pick the pattern first or the fabric first?
I’ve been really into sewing pants this year, so I’m super excited about the Cannes Wide-Legged Trousers. Wide-leg pants have always been my favorite silhouette, and I’m thrilled to see them back in style. I love the idea of pairing a classic button-down shirt with wide-legged trousers in a monochromatic look. The Classic Shirt without chest pockets fits perfectly into this aesthetic.

The Santa Rosa pattern is quickly becoming a tried-and-true favorite of mine. I adore patterns with cut-on sleeves—they’re easy to fit and sew. I already have a list of five different versions I want to create, but I decided to start with a dress. Inspired by this striped cotton shirting shirt dress, I’ll likely add embroidery details later if I feel inspired.

Lastly, I’m loving the updated Sintra Halter Top. This piece will be incredibly versatile, whether worn alone or layered. It’ll look great with a pencil skirt, A-line skirt, fitted pants, or even wide-legged trousers. For this capsule, I’m thinking of spring brunches and parties—perhaps a floral print paired with white Peckham Trousers.

If you haven’t checked out my tutorial on creating a digital inspiration board yet, it’s a great way to visualize how everything will coordinate. It doesn’t have to be perfect—I’m just using it to get a sense of how the pieces will look together. What are your spring sewing plans? Which of these new patterns are you eager to try?

Happy sewing, everyone! Let me know what you think of my plans, and feel free to share yours in the comments below.

And remember, whether you're planning a whole wardrobe or just one special project, sewing should always be enjoyable. Happy stitching!
