Yesterday, I made a promise to share some fabric recommendations for our latest Oliver + S pattern—the Girl on the Go Dress + Top. I’m confident you'll absolutely adore working with this pattern once it launches next Monday morning!
Here's a sneak peek at some images to give you an idea of what we're talking about.

For both the dress and the top, I suggest using cotton jersey, interlock, French terry, or sweatshirt fleece. Ponte is another excellent option if you're looking for something a bit more structured. There are so many fantastic knit fabrics available right now, and I'm excited to dive into the details.
The pink striped tops were crafted using this vibrant interlock knit from Cloud 9. Their fabrics are organic, and they offer an array of fun, bright colorways that kids absolutely love. Plus, their print selection is simply breathtaking.

For the green dress, I opted for the Wink interlock in Pond from Birch’s Mod Basics collection. The colors are incredible! For the blue dress, I found some fabric in Belgium, but unfortunately, I couldn't pinpoint its exact source. However, Birch offers something very similar in their Birch Basics collection, so no worries there.
All of Birch’s fabrics are organic, which I absolutely adore. The Mod Basics come in a wide range of colors that I find irresistible. Take a look at a few examples below.

Birch Basics also features adorable prints that are perfect for sewing projects.

Monaluna fabrics caught my attention too. If you haven’t heard of them, their fabrics are organic as well. (S would go berserk over those bear prints!)

Art Gallery fabrics are another treasure trove of stunning prints. Their collections are always a joy to work with.

For colder weather, French terry or sweatshirt fleece could make for a cozy dress. Robert Kaufman has some excellent choices, including solid and printed jersey fabrics.

S has developed a soft spot for pineapples lately, so these Dear Stella prints caught my eye.

There are so many possibilities when it comes to knits right now. What fabrics do you think would work best?

While I was researching for this post, I stumbled upon a few more fabric lines worth checking out. Have you ever tried working with Robert Kaufman’s Cozy Cottons? They’re soft, durable, and come in a variety of colors that could add a touch of warmth to any project.
Another hidden gem I found is the Organic Cotton Knit collection by Dashwood Studio. Their fabrics are lightweight yet substantial, making them ideal for garments that need to breathe but still hold their shape.
If you’re a fan of bold patterns, consider exploring the latest releases from Tula Pink. Her fabrics often feature whimsical designs that bring a sense of playfulness to any project.

In conclusion, whether you're aiming for something light and summery or cozy and winter-ready, there's a fabric out there for every occasion. Let me know your thoughts on the options I’ve shared. Happy sewing!
