As we continue our journey with the Lazy Days Skirt, today I’m excited to share a bold and colorful take on this classic pattern. Imagine a version that resembles the 10-stripe Fairy Tale Dress, but with a twist! I’ve crafted two variations of the same skirt. The first features a double-thickness hem, while the second uses a standard hem. Both designs incorporate three stripes that are approximately equal in width.
This project offers endless possibilities for creativity when it comes to color combinations. Why not try something striking like alternating black and white stripes? An ombré effect could also add a unique touch to your skirt.
To get started, I’ll provide the precise measurements for each stripe. Begin by sewing the stripes together with a half-inch seam allowance. This step is ideal for practicing French seams, ensuring the interior of your skirt looks as polished as the exterior. Next, sew the side seams and complete the hem. For reference, when making my two linen skirts, I used 18-inch lengths with 44-inch-wide fabric.
