Fluorite, also known as fluorspar, is a mineral whose main component is calcium fluoride (CaF2). It contains more impurities. Ca is often replaced by rare earth elements such as Y and Ce. In addition, it contains a small amount of Fe2O3. SiO2 and trace amounts of Cl, O3, He, and the like. Fluorite in nature is often brightly colored and has a lower hardness than a knife. It can be used to prepare hydrogen fluoride: CaF2+H2SO4=CaSO4+2HF↑; it is one of the materials for manufacturing optical glass used in lenses before the artificial fluorite technology is mature.
