2500 museums across the country will be open for free

A few days ago, the director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage Shan Yaoxiang spoke at the relevant meeting of the Ministry of Culture to introduce the national cultural relics work arrangements during the “12th Five-Year Plan” period. He said that at the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan," the total number of free museums and memorial halls in the country will reach 2,500. More than 10,000 exhibitions will be held each year, and 500 million visitors will be received each year.

Shan Yaoxiang introduced that in museum construction, the total number of museums in the country has reached 4,000 at the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, and the total number of museums at Level One, Two and Three in the country has reached 800. Based on the characteristics of the industry and geographical and cultural characteristics, we will also develop thematic museums such as science and technology, art, nature, ethnicity, folk customs, and industrial heritage, and promote the construction of new museums such as ecological museums, community museums, and digital museums. In terms of free access, the state-owned industrial museums and eligible private museums will be incorporated into the free open areas supported by the state policy. At the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, the total number of free museums and memorials in the country will reach 2,500, and 10,000 exhibitions will be held each year. In the above, 500 million visitors were received each year.

In the investigation of heritage resources, the third national survey of cultural relics should be completed by the end of 2011 to promote the survey of state-owned movable cultural relics.
