Why is Hetian jade waxing?

Many jade articles are crystal clear, shiny and bright, and very colorful when they are just purchased. However, after using it for a while, it was found that the jade passed through the "moisturizing" of the human being, not only did the jade quality not become better, but gradually lost its luster, faded its color, and even had small cracks. Why is this? In fact, there is only one reason, that is, the jade is waxed during the production process.

Why is the jade waxed? There are two reasons: First, the waxing can make the surface of the jade more uniform and smooth, the gloss and brightness are more delicate, and at the same time, it can achieve the effect of "sealing" the jade and prevent the oil from entering; the second is that the wax can cover the crack on the surface of the jade and make the jade More "perfect", jade cracks can be divided into two types, one is a crack, visible on the surface of the jade, and the other is a dark crack, distributed inside the jade. In order to cover up such cracks, merchants often wax in jade making to fill these cracks.

There are also two kinds of waxing methods: the simple treatment method is to heat the jade, and then apply the wax powder to let the wax powder enter the gaps of the jade; the complicated point is to put the jade into the paraffin solution to soak. The two methods are similar in principle.

It is precisely because of this that after using this kind of jade for a period of time, the paraffin in the jade slowly evaporates and disappears, so the crack of the jade appears, and the gloss is not as good as before.

How to identify if the jade has been waxed? The method is very simple. Soak the jade in hot water of about 70 degrees for 10 minutes. If there is wax, it can be precipitated.
